Destin, Florida

We went on our first family trip in probably three years at the beginning of August and it was amazing. For those that do not know, I grew up in Atlanta and moved to Salt Lake in 2001. Being in Atlanta, we (family) would drive down to Destin, Florida twice a year and spend a week on the beach. Destin is located on the panhandle of Florida on the Gulf of Mexico. This year, we decided to do the same. We headed to Destin, this time by plane and spent an amazing week on the beach. What made it better, in my opinion, was that we stayed in the same place that we stayed in when we used to come 8 years ago, Chateau La Mer. This is a great place to stay because it is a place full of condominiums that people can rent out and has a full kitchen, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, living area, and a balcony. Chateau La Mer also has a pol and tennis court, barbecues, playgrounds, clubhouse, and private beach access. The day we arrived, we drove around Destin and were surprised at how much it had grown. There were new condos, houses, and even new hotels that were not there 8 years ago. Our usual day went something like this, wake up and head to th beach around 9am. Stay at the beach until around 11:30am and then head to the pool for a half hour. In the afternoon, we went around and did various things. One afternoon we went to the Silver Sands Factory Stores (my opinion, the Park City Outlets are better), we went to the Harbor Walk (new area with a massive hotel called the Emerald Grande), Destin Commons (similar to the Gateway here in Utah, but fewer, more expensive stores), Pensacola to the Naval Airspace Museum, jetskiied one morning, visited Seaside and we spent one day at Navarre Beach. My two favorite parts were Pensacola and Navarre Beach. Pensacola was fun because we went to the Naval Airspace Museum which is located on the Naval Base and it is a really cool museum. They have all of these old planes that were used on display and you can even go and sit in some of them. Navarre beach was amazing. The water was even prettier than Destin's and we saw dolphins swimming/jumping only 100 yards away. There was no one at Navarre which made it even better because we were truly able to enjoy the beach without having to share it with other people. Seaside was also amazing because it is the cutest little city along the most amazing stretch of beach. They had the most darling little post office (see picture below) but they also had this amazing beach that I will never forget. Overall, it was an amazing vacation and hopefully we can go back again!

Noi ci siamo divertiti tanto e spero di tornarci presto!
