View Tahiti Trip in a larger map

Now that you've (hopefully) seen the pictures, I thought maybe now I would write about my trip! I'll break it up day by day and add in some of my favorite pictures. Overall, it was an amazing trip and we had a whole lot of fun! I went with Jeff and his family (parents and two brothers) and we sailed around on a catamaran named "Hercule" or as the French say it "'er-cool." We flew to Papeete on the island of Tahiti and then flew to Raiatae. From Raiatae, we sailed around the island, then went to Tahaa. Tahaa to Bora Bora where we fell in love. No one wanted to leave! From Bora Bora we headed back to Tahaa and then ended in Raiatae again to return the boat and fly back to Papeete. The trip was not terribly long and was definitely worth it!
Raiatea fino a TaHaa e poi siamo arrivati a Bora Bora. Che spettacolo! Bora Bora e' stupenda!!

Saturday/Sabato:
We arrived in Raiatea and at the boat early on Saturday morning after a red-eye flight from LA the night before. The boat was docked at Moorings Yacht Club and we unpacked and got somewhat settled in. Kim and I headed into town to buy some fresh food. Back on the boat and we headed out and to our first stop - Faaroa Bay. Once anchored, Jeff and I took the dinghy to land and went on a walk. It began to pour down rain and we just laughed and kept walking! The fresh water was so refreshing! Back on the boat, we ate dinner and went to bed!
Ci siamo messi a ridere e abbiamo continuato. Dopo cena siamo tutti andati a letto presto perche' eravamo stravolti!

Sunday/domenica:
We woke up with the sun at an early 7:00am. Took a quick dip and then headed off to our next stop. We sailed/motored to TaHaa where we saw the first of many overwater bungalows. These bungalows are very cool and make the waters look so beautiful with the bungalows over it. We anchored in Hurepiti Bay for the night. We saw a beautiful sunset, ate dinner, and then went to bed as soon as it was dark (around 8:00pm).

Monday/lunedi':
Jeff and I went for a walk around Hurepiti Bay and saw some beautiful plants. The backdrops in the islands are beautiful because on the one side, you have the lush and dense green forests and on the other side, you have the turquoise waters. It is just absolutely stunning! After our walk, we began our sail to Bora Bora. Tim (Jeff's younger brother) and I became quite queasy and had to sleep the majority of the way. Once we made it, no one was expecting it to be as beautiful as it was. Bora Bora is a stunning place. We anchored at the Bora Bora Yacht Club and then took the dinghy into town to look for some previsions. The town was fun because it reminded me of the towns in Italy where everyone knows each other. Plus, I love going into grocery stores wherever I am (thank you Dad!) and so that was also fun.
Io e Jeff siamo andati a fare una passeggiata attorno dove eravamo. Abbiamo visto tante piante molto belle. A me piace molto andare nelle citta' nuove. E poi, mi piace molto andare nei supermercati (grazie papa'!)! Ci siamo divertiti a riva e poi siamo tornati in dietro per mangiare!

Bora Bora!!

Tuesday/martedi':
We woke up and headed towards the Hilton Bora Bora (where Jeff's parents were going to stay for the night). On our way, we anchored just off a reef and went for a swim. The minute you jumped in, you could see underwater so far! The water was just so blue and clear! After swimming about 100 yards, you could even stand up. It was pretty amazing. Plus, the sun was shining and the water was warm. We saw so many fun colored fish and some rays as well. After our swim, we headed to the Hilton. This is probably the most beautiful property/hotel I have ever been to. It was absolutely gorgeous! It is truly paradise and we were lucky enough to be in an overwater bungalow. We went for a quick swim in the pool (so nice to be in chlorine compared to salt water) and then we were all able to shower. We ate dinner at the hotel and then us kids headed back to the boat.
Ci siamo svegliati e siamo andati verso l'Hilton.

Seeing coral that's about 20 feet under
from the deck of the boat is pretty cool

Wednesday/mercoledi':
After leaving the Hilton, we headed back to land to get some more food and water. Then we wanted to head to the other side of Bora Bora. As we headed there, we anchored in one spot and swam around for a little bit. Bora Bora is unique in that it is surrounded by motu's, or mini islands. We wanted to go walk on some because that is where the beaches are, but they were all privately owned. We were okay though just by swimming nearby. We wanted to anchor there for the night, but we weren't too sure about the weather or the anchorage. Therefore, we headed back to the Bora Bora Yacht Club for the night. We did see a pretty spectacular sunset though.

Thursday: giovedi':
This was our lazy day. We didn't do a whole lot. Jeff and I went into town and found a few souvenirs (magnets). The rest of the day was just spent hanging out and staying out of the sun! We ended up anchoring near where we had anchored on Monday night.

Friday/venerdi':
This was a sad day. We had to leave Bora Bora. After a nice swim in the beautiful waters, we headed back to TaHaa. We anchored on the other side of where we anchored on Sunday night. Friday night we were in Haamene Bay. On our way into the Bay, we were able to see part of the Tahiti Pearl Regatta which was pretty fun. We all took a shower with Prell and felt somewhat better.
Ci siamo tutti lavati e ci sentivamo molto bene!

Driving! Well, actually auto is driving.

Shower time!

Saturday/sabato:
Another sad day. We motored the boat in between at the Tahiti Pearl Regatta boats until we were on the other side of them. We saw the start of the race and also went for a swim. We saw some pretty large rays! After our swim and new showers, we took the boat back around mid-day. After that, we headed to the airport and it was back to Papeete. We stayed the night in a hotel and then back to the USA on Sunday. A great end to an even better vacation!

Our trusty Prell kept us smelling relatively
fresh and clean!
