Hawaii

Hawaii was amazing and I wish I was still there! I had so much fun hanging out on the beach and spending time with Jeff and his family. I got into Hawaii on Saturday, July 26 and met up with Jeff's family friends, Ann, Carolyn, and Claire for a day on Waikiki beach in Honolulu. Sunday we didn't spend as much time on the beach because we had to go to Costco and get groceries and then head to the house we had rented for the week in Kailua, which is on the Windward (eastern) side of Oahu. The house was perfect - 5 bedrooms, 3 baths, and a pool - it couldn't have been any better! The Jamani crew finished the race Monday afternoon at 4:26pm and did great! They were so happy to have arrived and we were all very happy to see them! Tim, Jeff's younger brother got in Monday night so Monday was full of laughter and stories from the crew. The rest of the week was spent repairing what needed to be repaired and hanging out on the beach. The house was about a two minute walk from the beach and the beach was gorgeous, there were hardly any people and crystal clear waters! Lots and lots of jellyfish though the first few days and me, Jeff, and Tim all got stung. We were able to go snorkeling and kayaking at Lanikai beach on two separate occasions which was nice because that beach is a sheltered lagoon which means that there aren't many waves and it was perfect! We even saw a sea turtle! At night, we went to the Kaneohe Bay Yacht Club for various parties for the Pacific Cup sailors that were tons of fun! Jeff and his parents left Kaneohe (Kailua was about a 5 minute drive away further south on the island) on Sunday morning and since Tim and I's flight didn't leave until about 10pm, we spent the day touring Honolulu. We stopped at the Pali Lookout which overlooks Kaneohe Bay, climbed the Diamond Head Crater, visited the Waikiki Aquarium, took a walk on Waikiki, and went shopping at the Ala Moana Shopping Mall. Overall, Hawaii was amazing and I can't wait to go back there soon, hopefully with Jeff again!
