Oscar Night 2013

Tuesday, February 26, 2013
I invited some friends over for dinner on Oscar night and to watch the Oscar's. I prepared a menu and decided to be fancy with it and typed it all up. I had gold card stock lying around which was perfect.
Ho invitato dei amici per cena la sera degli Oscar per mangiare e vedere i Oscar's. Ho fatto un menu' e l'ho anche stampato. Avevo gia' della carta dorata che era perfetta.

I had gone to the Hillcrest Farmer's Market that day where I found some delicious chips and guac that we munched on while I finished cooking everything. Then, I made penne alla vodka - super easy and super tasty recipe.
Ero andata al mercato quella mattina dove avevo trovato del guacamole buonissimo allora abbiamo cominciato con quello in tanto che finivo di cucinare tutto. Poi, ho fatto penne alla vodka - una ricetta molto semplice e molto buona!

Add pasta when water boils and cook al dente.
2. While the pasta is cooking, quarter the tomatoes and remove the seeds.
3. In a large saucepan, heat up a little bit of olive oil and the garlic.
4. When the garlic is turning brown, add the tomatoes, and the vodka.
5. Add in the tomato paste and stir.
6. Reduce to low heat and let simmer until ready to serve.
7. Strain the pasta and pour into saucepan.
8. Add a little bit of cream to blend everything together.

After the pasta, I made saltimbocca alla Romana and they turned out amazing!

Olive Oil
Dry White Wine
Toothpicks

1. Lightly coat the veal with flour.
2. Layer cheese, prosciutto, and sage onto the veal.

3. Wrap the veal and secure with a toothpick.

4. In a pan, heat up the olive oil and shallots.
5. When the oil is hot, place in the veal.
6. Cook a few minutes or until each side is browned.
You will need to move the toothpicks to ensure that all sides are cooked.
7. Once all sides are browned, add in white wine to about the middle of
one of the pieces of veal.
8. Let simmer on low, covered, until reduced.
9. Serve hot.

For dessert, I made a simple macedonia with strawberries and bananas. It was perfect!
