When you dock, there are all these painted rocks. Story goes that the first time a ship comes to Skagway, they send a crew to go and paint a rock with the ship's name, captain's name, and date. The higher up the rock, the more respect the crew has for the captain.
Quando arrivi, ci sono dei sassi dipinti con i simboli delle barche. La storia e' questa: la prima volta che una nave viene a Skagway, mandano un paio di persone a pitturare un sasso con il nome della nave, il nome del capitano, e la data. Se scelgono un sasso alto, hanno piu' rispetto per il capitano.
This was on the rocks below the walkway. They have crazy tides that change about 20 feet.
Questo era in riva del mare. Anno le marea che cambiano circa 10 metri ogni volta.
We did the mushing experience where we got to ride on a sled pulled by dogs. These dogs are in summer training and we help provide them with strength training. It was pretty cool especially because our guide was training for the Iditarod.
