Ah l'estate. Quando posso scappare dalla California per andare in Italia per un paio di settimane. Visto che insegno in una scuola annuale (ritorno a scuola il 19 luglio), ho sei settimane di ferie. Ho passato una settimana e mezzo a San Diego preparando la mia classe nuova e poi sono partita per l'Italia. Sono andata subito a Parma dove mia nonna aveva preparato un pranzo buonissimo.

One of my favorite things to eat in Italy is torta fritta. It's similar to a fried bread and you eat it with cured meats and cheeses. While you can find it in many restaurants in Parma, there are also trucks that sell it street side.
Una delle mie cose preferite da mangiare in Italia e la torta fritta. Per quelli che non lo sanno, la torta fritta e' una specie di pane fritto che si mangia con i salumi e formaggi. Molti ristoranti a Parma la fanno pero' ci sono anche i camion che la vende per strada.

The first Saturday, my cousin Elena took me to the beach. We went to Marina di Carrara and it was a gorgeous day.
Il primo sabato, l'Elena mi ha portato al mare. Siamo andate a Marina di Carrara e abbiamo passato un giorno molto bello. L'Elena e' piu' per le montagne, pero' quando ci sono io, viene anche al mare.
