March 2022 - Maui!

For Spring Break this year, Andy and I found a killer deal through Costco to go to Maui. I have been to Oahu a few times, but never been to Maui, and Andy had never been to Hawaii. We stayed at the Royal Lahaina Resort, which is on the west side of Maui. 

Per Spring Break, io e Andy abbiamo trovato un'offerta trammite Costco per andare a Maui. Io sono stata a Oahu un paio di volte, pero mai a Maui. Andy, invece, non e' mai stato a le Hawaii. Siamo stati al Royal Lahaina Resort, che e' su la parte ovest di Maui.

Beautiful beach

On our first full day, we traveled the Road to Hana. In short, this is a scenic drive along the north east coast of Maui. The road is very narrow, but it's pretty beautiful. 

Il nostro primo giorno, abbiamo fatto la strada per Hana. Questa strada e' una via scenica su la parte nord-est di Maui. La strada e' molto stretta, pero' molto bella. 

We used the Shaka Guide app to guide us there and were really pleased with the stops if suggested. 

Abbiamo usato una app per dirci dove andare e fermare. Molte de le fermate erano bellissime! 

Ho'okipa Beach

One of the points of interest was a black sand beach. Luckily, I had researched it because you need a permit to enter and the permit is only valid for a few hours. The beach is a part of Wai'anapanapa State Park. We parked and immediately were blown away by the beauty of this little cove. 

Una de le fermate era per vedere una spiaggia con la sabbia nera. Ci vuole un permesso per entrare e ci puoi stare solo un paio di ore. Fa parte di un parco statale. Dopo aver parcheggiato, ci siamo meravigliati a la vista.

Lahaina was the closest town and they have a large banyan tree in the middle of it. It was easily 10 degrees cooler under it.

Lahaina era il paese piu' vicino e hanno un albero enorme in mezzo. C'erano almeno 10 gradi di meno come temperatura sotto.

We went snorkeling the day I had my stitches removed. I still didn't submerge my thumb, but was able to make do! We headed just north of where we were staying to a protected cove.

Siamo andati a boccaglio il giorno che mi hanno tolti I punti nel dito. Non potevo mettere il dito sotto, pero' c'e' l'ho fatta! Siamo andati appena nord di dove avevamo l'albergho e c'e' un mare protetto.

We headed back towards the eastern side of the island to check out Haleakala National Park and Crater. It was a beautiful drive and there was a point where you could see both coasts of Maui which was pretty neat. 

Siamo andati vero il crater che c'e' a Haleakala National Park. Il giro in macchina era molto bello e c'era un punto dove si vedevano tutte due parti dell'isola.

At the top, the weather is drastically different - much cooler and windier! 

In alto, la temperatura e' molto diversa - molto piu' fresco e molto piu' vento!

We rented a beach cabana for the day at the hotel so we could hang in the shade by the beach. It was heavenly and the most perfect day to do it.

Abbiamo noleggiato delle sdraio su la spiaggia cosi' avevamo ombra. Era una giornata perfetta.

Our final day we headed to the Nakalele Point Blowhole. It was a short walk/hike, but very cool vistas.

L'ultimo giorno siamo andati a vedere un sfiatatoio. Non era una camminata lunga pero' era molto bella.

As we headed towards the airport, we had a little time to kill so we stopped by this beach across the street. Turns out it's a popular kite/wind surfing beach. We spent some time watching them fly across the water and saw some turtles too! 

Avevamo un po di tempo prima di dover andare in aeroporto. Ci siamo fermati in questa spiaggia attraverso la strada (davvero!). C'e' molto vento in questa spiaggia ed e' perfetta per fare il kite o wind surf. Abbiamo visto anche tartarughe!
