March 2024 - DC

Sunday, March 31, 2024

After a brief NYC visit, we jumped on the train and headed to Washington DC to see Andy's sister, Amanda.

DC's Union Station

Amanda lives just outside of DC and on Saturday, we went to a darling little town to wander around. We tried some fun whisky's at Catoctin Creek Distilling Company.

On Sunday, we met up with friends who used to live in San Diego, for brunch! It was so yummy! Then we hung out at their house for a bit until we went to see the Cherry Blossoms!

We were in DC for peak cherry blossom season! It was packed with people, but we still managed to see the blossoms and wander around - it was such a beautiful day!

The day we left, we went to Great Falls Park to see the waterfalls. It was insane!
Erano immense!

Then, we went to the Udvar-Hazy Space Center which is right by Dulles for a quick visit before our flight.

We had a quick but fun East Coast trip!

The whole purpose of the DC trip was to see Harry and Ian get married! After a few days in DC, we headed across the Bay to Easton, Maryland. We stayed at the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay and it was gorgeous! The grounds are enormous and spectacular. I would definitely go back and stay a week just at the resort!

The first night there were drinks in the hotel bar just to say hi to everyone.

Saturday morning, we headed straight to the pool to go down the waterslide and check out the amazing pool.

I mean...

Then, it was wedding time! The wedding was at the home of a friend of theirs and could not have been more perfect. It was truly a wonderful ceremony and celebration.

The Happy Couple!

Sunset

Our flights were not until later in the afternoon, so we took our time heading back to the airport. We stopped at the Choptank River Lighthouse to check it out.

What a wonderful trip and congrats to the happy couple!

Washington DC

Fall Break! My favorite perk of being a teacher in a year-round school. Two weeks off at the end of September. Best time to travel. Luckily for me, it coincided with the wedding of some friends in DC. Even more lucky, my good friend Hannah was also going so we turned it into a Girl's Weekend!

We headed into DC from Baltimore and met up with Jay and Laura for dinner.

Besties since 3rd grade!

After dinner, thanks to jet lag, we were wide awake. We strolled around and ended up at the White House. Then we went to POV which is the bar at the top of the W right around the corner from the White House.

Not a terrible view

The next morning, we woke up and started roaming DC. Hannah had never been, so we saw all the things, mostly on foot. Not only were we on foot, but it was weirdly hot while we were there. We were beat at the end of the day!

Lincoln Memorial

Washington Monument

Smithsonian!

We headed to lunch at Central Michel Richard and it did not disappoint. They were known for their fried chicken so we shared some and it was pretty delish.

After lunch, we headed to Georgetown. I'd never been there, so it was fun to explore all the cute shops and see the pretty row homes.
Dopo pranzo, siamo andate a Georgetown.

For dinner, we met up with some other friends of mine that live in DC. We strolled through Chinatown, so had to take a pic!

LOVE HER.

Hannah and I had heard about a small street that had all the umbrellas, so we checked it out after dinner. Jet lag worked in our favor at night on this trip for sure. This was perfect because we went around 11:30pm, so there was hardly anyone there!

Friday was our final day in DC and it was also the day before the vote on Kavanaugh was happening. We headed over towards the Supreme Court to check out what was going on. It was pretty cool to be a small part of history.

We wanted more seafood and found Luke's Lobster. While there are many of them, it was definitely worth it. We shared a roll and some chowder (it was chilly that day) and then headed back to the hotel to grab the car.
Volevamo altro pesce e abbiamo trovato Luke's Lobster.

Heading over the bridge to Easton, Maryland
