August 2025

August was so much fun! I worked for the first week while my mom stayed with Emilia. I then took 6 more weeks of bonding leave, so am home through October 6. This month we went to the zoo, had to get more shots (she did not like the shots, but luckily was fine after), took Emilia on her first plane ride to SLC (she cried just a little right before takeoff and then was great!), pool time, library storytime, visited LA, Andy and I got a couple date nights in, and I met up with a friend that I hadn't seen since high school. 

Ci siamo divertiti molto ad agosto. Io ho lavorato la prima settimana e c'era mia mamma qua con l'Emilia. Poi, sono a casa adesso per 6 settimane, tornando al lavoro il 6 ottobre. Questo mese siamo andati allo zoo, Emilia ha avuto altri vaccini (non le piacciono, pero' non ha avuto niente febbre dopo), siamo andati a Salt Lake per un weekend in aereo (e' stata molto brava!), tanto tempo in piscina, in biblioteca per ascoltare de le storie, io e Andy siamo usciti a cena, siamo andati a Los Angeles, e mi sono trovata con una amica che non vedevo da anni!

Emilia is at the sweetest stage now where she giggles, laughs, so many smiles. She is able to roll from her back to belly and is working belly to back. She will grab for toys and bring them to her mouth. She LOVES splashing in the water at the pool. She is starting to recognize us more and is starting to see Gus and follow him with her eyes. 

Emilia adesso ride sempre. E' una bimba molto felice. Si puo girare da la schiena in pancione, pero' ancora non nel altro verso. Prende i suoi giochi e mette tutto in bocca. Le piace molto andare in piscina e fare splish-splash con l'acqua. Sta cominciando a conoscerci e cera Gus e lo segue.

July 2025

We had so many new adventures in July! We went on a road trip to Graeagle for the 4th of July to see Andy's grandparents. Emilia did amazing in the car and had so much fun meeting great-grandparents, aunts, and uncles. They do a fun show for the 4th and she slept through the fireworks!

Tante avventure nuove a luglio! Siamo andati in macchina a Graeagle per il 4 di luglio a trovare i nonni di Andy. L'Emilia era bravissima in macchina e ha conosciuto tutti i bis-nonni, zii, e cugini. Quando era tempo per i fuochi d'artificio, ha dormito!

Emilia spent lots of time at the zoo, getting free 7-11 Slurpee's on July 11, lots of pool time, going to her first Padres game, and watching the Symphony rehearsal at the Rady Shell. She's such a joy to be around and is more and more interactive.

August 2024

August was full of friends, food, and fun! We hosted our monthly Dinner Club and made cicchetti (little appetizers) with tomato/mozzarella, apple butter and cinnamon, and tinned octopus. Our main course was pizza in the Ooni and then for dessert, pesche! The pesche are something my nonna used to make and I wanted to try my hand at them. They were so delicious!

Agosto era pieno di amici, mangiare, e divertimento! Era il nostro turno per ospitare i nostri amici e abbiamo fatto una cena Italiana. Per cominciare, dei cicchetti con pomodori/mozzarella, burro di mele e cannella, e polpo sotto olio. Abbiamo fatto la pizza nel forno che abbiamo per la pizza. Per dolce, ho fatto le pesche con la ricetta de la Nonna Franca. Sono venute buonissime e sono piaciute a tutti!

We went car beach camping at San Elijo Beach for one night. I had never been beach camping and it was lovely! Our spot overlooked the ocean, so we slept with the sounds of the waves lulling us to sleep. 

Siamo andati in campeggio su la spiaggia per una sera. Io non l'avevo mai fatto e ci siamo divertiti molto. Il nostro posto aveva vista sul mare ed era molto rilassante dormire sentendo le onde. 

We slept in the Tesla! It wasn't too bad and it was nice to be sheltered from the morning moisture.

February 2024

February was busy! We walked down to the water one Sunday and enjoyed the weather.

Un sabato siamo andati a piedi fino al mare per goderci la stagione.

A colleague from work had starter for Amish Friendship Bread. I remember making this as a child, so I grabbed a starter bag from her. I made several rounds of the bread and muffins - it was just like I remembered it! 

Una collega aveva la biga per questo pane che mi ricordo di aver fatto da piccola. Ho provato anch'io e ho fatto un paio di tipi di pane da colazione diversi. Era proprio come me lo ricordavo! 

We were supposed to have friends over for the Super Bowl, but I was sick. We had bought what seemed like a thousand pounds of chicken wings, so we made some even though it was just us. They were pretty easy to make and turned out quite tasty!

Dovevamo avere dei amici a casa nostra per guardare il Super Bowl pero' io ero amalata. Avevamo gia' comprato le ali di pollo allora le abbiamo fatte solo per noi. 

Date night! One of our favorite restaurants, Mabel's Gone Fishin', did a tinned fish night. We had a great time and ate some delicious tinned fish - something we wouldn't have necessarily picked out on our own. 

Serata fuori! Uno dei nostri ristoranti preferiti ha fatto una serata di pesci sott'olio/in scatola. Ci siamo divertiti molto e abbiamo provato e mangiato de le cose che non avremmo mai scelto solo noi.

 

My parents came into town and I took them to the zoo. It was a beautiful day and so many animals were out and about.

Sono venuti I miei per un weekend e siamo andati allo zoo. Era una giornata perfetta e c'erano tanti animali fuori.

October 2022 - Misc

Other randomness from October. Simone was in an improv class and had a show that we went up to see. He was probably the best - very funny! 

Altre cose in ottobre. Simone ha fatto uno show che siamo andati a vedere. Era il piu' bravo - molto divertente.

The week after Thanksgiving I went to see The Grinch, at the Old Globe and it was awesome. The entire cast does such an amazing job. I love going every year!
La settimana dopo Thanksgiving, sono andata a vedere The Grinch, nel teatro vecchio ed era stupendo. Fanno sempre un lavoro stupendo e ci vado ogni anno!

Over President's Day weekend (my four-day weekend, thankyouverymuch public school!) my dear friend Caroline came to visit. Now, I met Caroline when I first moved back to SLC from California about five years ago. She was a first year teacher and I was a student-teacher-volunteer. She became such an inspiration to me as a teacher and from there, we became good friends. Needless to say, I was over the moon excited that her and her boyfriend (now FIANCEE!!!) Kevin came to visit me over my long weekend.
Un paio di weekend fa era President's Day. Io avevo un weekend lungo e la mia amica Caroline e' venuta a trovarmi. Io ho conosciuto la Caroline quando mi sono trasferita da California a Salt Lake quasi 5 anni fa. Lei era una maestra che stava cominciando, e io stavo cominciando il mio programma per diventare una maestra. Lei e' una delle maestra di cui ammiro e da li siamo diventate molto amiche. Comunque, ero molto contente che mi e' venuta a trovare con il suo fidanzato!

Since they drove from St. George, they were hungry when they arrived. Naturally, I took them to the only restaurant I know, Buona.
Visto che avevano guidato da St. George, erano affamati quando sono arrivati. Ovviamente, gli ho portati nel unico ristorante che conosco, Buona.

After a filling lunch, we headed to Coronado for a walk on the beach and the sunset.
Dopo pranzo, siamo andati a Coronado per caminare sulla spiaggia e il tramonto.

Then, this past weekend, I got a wonderful text from my friend John who was in town so I had to go see him! We hung out in La Jolla and then went to dinner at Liberty Station.
Poi, questo weekend, un mio amico dal liceo mi ha mandato un messaggio dicendomi che era a San Diego allora l'ho visto. Siamo andati a La Jolla e poi a cena a Liberty Station.
